Symptoms of periodontal disease may include bleeding gums, loose teeth, teeth shifting, bad breath, and abscesses. The symptoms of periodontal disease are often subtle and many people are not aware that they have this serious disease. Often, there is no pain involved and the destruction progresses undiagnosed. Luckily, it is easily detected during a comprehensive periodontal examination. In most cases, periodontal disease is detected by a dentist during routine clinical or x-ray exams.
